Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury Biography

Bio, Education, and Family

On February 11, Somlata was born into a family of East Bengali zamindars in Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal. In her birth family, Somlata Acharjya Chowdhuri was the daughter of former zamindars. Her mother’s family originally came from Noakhali, while her father, Shyamal Acharyya Chowdhury, sprung from the Muktagachha zamindar dynasty of Mymensingh. At the age of nine, she began receiving instruction in Indian classical music from Pandit Biresh Roy. In 2007, Somlata sang her debut playback song for the crossover movie Perfect Woman. ‘Aami achi er majhe’ is her most recent release; her first solo album, Chupkotha, was published in 2009. Movies such as “Cross Connection,” “Bedroom,” “Elar Char Adhyay,” “Dutta vs. Dutta,” “Bojhe Na Se Bojhe Na,” and “Bela Seshe” have used her voiceovers. On November 23, 2012, Akash Roy and Somalata tied the knot.

Career

She is not just a vocalist but also a psychotherapist. Alongside her band Somlata and Aces, Somlata takes the stage to play. After completing her studies, Somlata continued her musical pursuits and became a guest lecturer at Ashutosh College. She began receiving modest jobs in a variety of media, occasionally contributing to choruses or serving as a backup vocalist. She was brought to a studio by a family acquaintance, where she immediately gained attention. Her first break came in 2005 as part of the Tsunami Fund Relief program, when she played with several well-known performers, including Usha Uthup. After that, she took part in Parambrata’s musical production of Take a Break.

Her first playback success was “Ichhe Gulo Dichhe Ishara” from Neel Dutt’s 2007 film Cross Connection. This finally led to her being chosen by pop music icon Anjan Dutt to sing the lead role in the movie “Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona.” The protagonist, who was portraying an aspiring rock star, found Somlata’s deep and beautiful voice to be an ideal replay! She rose to fame in Bengal after singing the song “Tumi Ashbe Bole Tai” from the same movie. In 2011, she formed “Somlata and the Aces,” her band. She is now one of the most sought-after “Bangla Band” singers of the current age because of her incredible live performances.

Somlata has also encountered the negative aspects of being in the spotlight. She had created an alternative rock rendition of a Rabindra Sangeet while sporting her goofy “band girl in jeans and shirt” image. certain of the discerning audience members and certain classic Rabindra Sangeet performers did not take well to this. However, the event didn’t stop her from taking chances and pursuing her goals! And her creative versions of Rabindra Sangeet became very popular.

And thus was born Mor Bhabonare, an album including five exquisite Rabindra Sangeet. Tomar Khola Hawa and Roope tomay Bholabona are two of her best-loved songs, but the singer gushed that Je rate Mor Duar Guli was a personal request from her spouse.

Renowned Bengali director and writer Ranjan Ghosh is the author and director of the critically praised Indian drama film Ahaa Re for 2019. This is the director’s third feature film; he is most known for Hrid Majharey and Rongberonger Korhi. As a restaurant owner, Bangladeshi actor Alamgir makes a guest cameo in the film, along with Rituparna Sengupta, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Paran Bandopadhyay, Deepankar De, and Shakuntala Barua. Producing the movie is Bhavna-Aj-O-Kal. Dhaka’s top chef, Farhaz Chowdhury, initially develops feelings for her food before falling in love with Basundhara, a home caterer. Ahaa Re honors food and the passion it inspires. More accurately, cooking becomes an art form when it’s a celebration of the senses and the involved emotions. And with it all, a heaping helping of Bangaliana.

Produced by Bangladesh Police Paribar Kallyan Samity Ltd., Three Wheelers Ltd., and Splash Multimedia, Dhaka Attack is a police action thriller set in Bangladesh. Leading parts are played by Arifin Shuvoo, Mahiya Mahi, ABM Sumon, and Taskeen Rahman. Written by Sunny Sanwar, it was directed by Dipankar Dipon. The Abhi Kathachitra and Swapna Scarecrow distributed the movie. At the 42nd Bangladesh National Film Awards, the movie took home the “Best Film” trophy. The narrative revolves around the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Elite Forces’ valiant battle against a terrorist group; the attack is a component of a larger scheme by a few foreign intelligence services to undermine the nation’s defenses by sowing instability. Arifin Shuvo plays the assistant commissioner of the DMP and the head of the bomb disposal unit in the movie. Sumon assumed the part of a SWAT Force commander. Mahiya Mahi plays a news reporter, Shatabdi Wadud as an intelligence officer, and Afzal Hossain as the DMP Commissioner are present in the movie.
