Bio, Education and Family
On August 22, 1991, Zheng Shuang was born in Shenyang, the most populous city in China’s Liaoning Province. The smallest, most populous, and southernmost province in the region is Liaoning, a coastal province in northeastern China. Shenyang, her hometown, is where she was raised and completed her elementary schooling. Zheng Shuang came into the entertainment industry after receiving her degree since she had always desired to work in the industry since she was a little child. Beijing Film Academy awarded Zheng Shuang a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011, with a performing arts concentration.
Relationship
While filming a reality show in May of 2018, Zheng Shuang got to know producer Zhang Heng. The couple launched a business together and acknowledged dating in August 2018. In the US, the couple exchanged vows on January 19, 2019. But in December 2019, they made their breakup public. Zhang disclosed on January 18, 2021, that he had been left behind in the United States for more than a year in order to care for two children. On December 19, 2019, and January 4, 2020, respectively, US-based surrogate mothers gave birth to the two children. Since then, Zhang and Zheng have both acknowledged that they were the children’s parents. Zhang claimed that Zheng had broken up with the woman and left the two kids behind, refusing to sign the legal documents that would have allowed the kids to visit China. Zheng refuted the accusations, claiming instead that Zhang had left for China in September 2019 to cheat on her. According to reports, Zheng owes the fertility clinic US$68,000 for the successful surrogacy. Zheng’s request to end the pregnancies at the seventh month, which was turned down, was allegedly confirmed by the clinic as well. The clinic also claimed that rather than wishing to return the kids to China, she intended to pay them on a monthly basis to raise them in America.
Additionally, she and her family asserted that she had been preparing to fight for custody since 2019 and had not abandoned the kids. Zheng’s father disclosed in a video recorded on January 23, 2021, that the online conversation originated from a recent breakup between Zheng and Zhang; rather than not wanting the children, the family was simply trying to find a way to take Zhang out of Zheng’s life. Zheng’s father also said that Zheng’s work-related health issues led to the couple’s decision to use surrogacy to have children, and he expressed regret for “not advising Zheng’s decision-making process correctly.” Zhang was granted full custody of the two children by the American court in May 2021 because the youngsters acknowledged Zhang as their only parent. Simultaneously, the court directed Zheng to receive treatment for six months in order to stabilise her mental health, and Zheng was required to interact with the children three times a week in order to foster a sense of familial connection. Zhang claimed in January 2023 that Zheng had hurt the kids, and that month, both would appear in family court to discuss custody disputes.
