How Penetration Testing Can Benefit Your Business

In today’s digitally connected world, cybersecurity is more important than ever. As a business owner, you need to be aware of the various risks and vulnerabilities that come with using technology. One way to mitigate these risks is to invest in penetration testing from InfoTrust security services -but what exactly is penetration testing? Keep reading to find out.

Penetration testing, also known as pen testing or pentesting, is a simulated cyber attack against your computer systems to check for vulnerabilities. This type of test is performed by ethical hackers, also known as white hat hackers (put simply, these are people who use their hacking skills for good instead of bad).

Penetration testing can help you find weaknesses in your system before legitimate cybercriminals do. Patching up these holes can make it much harder for attackers to get into your system and wreak havoc.

Types of Penetration Testing

There are several different approaches that can be taken when performing penetration tests. The approach that will work best for your business will depend on your specific needs and goals. Some of the most common types of penetration tests include:

• External Tests: External tests are designed to simulate an attack from outside your network. This type of test focuses on assessing things like perimeter defences and public-facing infrastructure.External tests are often used to assess compliance with things like PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard).
• Internal Tests: Internal tests simulate an attack from inside your network. This type of test is useful for assessing internal controls and employee awareness.Internal tests are often used to assess compliance with things like HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
• Application Tests: Application tests focus on individual applications, such as web applications, mobile applications, and cloud-based applications. These tests are designed to assess the security of the application itself, rather than the underlying infrastructure.
• Wi-Fi Tests: Wi-Fi tests assess the security of wireless networks. These types of tests can be used to assess compliance with standards like 802.11i/wpa2 Enterprise.

Enjoy peace of mind, by investing in penetration testing cybersecurity services for your organisation today

Penetration testing is a useful tool for business owners who want to ensure the security of their computer systems. By simulating a cyber attack, ethical hackers can help you find weaknesses in your system before they are exploited by a legitimate threat. If you’re thinking about investing in penetration testing services, be sure to consult with a reputable firm that has experience in conducting these types of tests.
