Roulette

The aim of the game is quite simple – to bet on the number you predict the ball to land on. The dealer will spin the Roulette wheel in one direction, and then throw the ball (known as a pill) into the wheel the opposite way. Once the ball slows down it will land in one of the numbered partitions. This is the winning number.

The numbers on a Roulette table run from zero to 36, with numbers one through 36 alternating in red and black, with zero being the only green. Some tables have a double zero or even triple zero pocket. Extra zeros change the odds of your bet – the more zeros a table has, the lower your odds are. This is why many players opt for European Roulette, as the single zero makes the house edge significantly lower than that of American Roulette, the double zero variation.

You place chips or money on the area of the table that represents the bet you would like to make. If you are playing online, you choose the amount you would like to bet and then select which numbers you would like to place a bet on. It really is as simple as that!

Blackjack

The objective of Blackjack is the beat the dealer. In order to do this, you need to either draw a hand that is a higher value than the dealer’s hand, by the dealer drawing a hand value that goes over 21, orby drawing a hand value of 21 on your first two cards, when the dealer does not.

On the flip side, you will lose to the dealer if your hand value exceeds 21, or the dealer’s hand has a greater value than yours at the end of the round.

The game is played with a conventional deck of 52 playing cards and suits don’t matter. Sometimes, more than one deck is used during a game.

Blackjack is usually played on a semi-circular table that can accommodate varying numbers of players. The most common tables have seven players/spots, but this can vary. The dealer stands behind the table and chip rack and the players sit on the other side.

So, which is the game for you?

Do you want to physically hold cards in your hands, or wait in anticipation as a chance-based wheel reveals the outcome? In other words, will you be playing Blackjack or Roulette the next time you log onto an online casino site?
