During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people spent hours looking at their own faces on video calls, and interest in cosmetic procedures rose. If that has you thinking about a nose job, you’re not alone.
However, you will certainly want to do your research beforehand and ask the right questions. You definitely don’t want to experience buyer’s remorse after plastic surgery. You want to make sure you’re 100% confident in both the procedure and the practitioner.
So, if you’re considering plastic surgery in the near future, be sure to ask yourself these 4 crucial questions.
Where Can I Find the Right Surgeon?
First and foremost, you absolutely need to find a fully board-certified surgeon and don’t settle for anything else. They should be able to prove their credentials.
Second of all, you want to make sure that you work with someone who has a proven history of amazing results for the procedure you’re looking for.
For example, if you’re looking for a rhinoplasty expert, the quality of their nose job before and after pictures should be amazing. If you’re not impressed, you should probably explore other options.
Also, if you’re in a smaller community, don’t be afraid to travel. It’s widely accepted that the best plastic surgeons tend to set up shop in bigger cities. A tummy tuck in Toronto, for example, may give you more surgeons to compare than a small-town clinic.
What Are My Expectations?
It’s important to have realistic expectations of what your would-be plastic surgery can and cannot do. For example, if you want a rhinoplasty, you cannot simply choose any celebrity’s nose. Your surgeon will help you pick something that will work with your existing bone structure.
This is another reason why your first meeting with your surgeon is crucial. They should be able to listen to your goals, and show you exactly what is reasonably possible.
Are There Any Other Procedures That Can Help Me?
Let’s say you’re hoping to trim up your midsection. You hear that Victoria’s Secret models often get VelaShape III treatments before their runways shows, and now you want to see what it can do for you.
Don’t get tunnel vision, or too locked into the idea of one single procedure. Your surgeon may show you that a different body contouring procedure will work better on your body. Keep your mind and your options open.
What Happens After Surgery?
This question is actually a two-parter. First of all, what is going to happen immediately after the surgery? You need to know exactly what post-op steps you will need to take, and how long you will need to do them.
Second of all, what will your lifestyle look like after the surgery? For example, if you get liposuction, you will definitely want to live a healthy lifestyle (if you’re not already) to ensure the weight doesn’t come back.
Any time you get plastic surgery or a cosmetic procedure, you want to know exactly how you can maximize your results, and make them last for as long as possible.
Can plastic surgery help you? Only you can answer that question for yourself. But answering those 4 questions will help you make an informed decision.
